Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has revealed why he dropped the China based players for 2019 Nations Cup qualifier against South Africa on June 10.
Obi Mikel, Odio Ighalo, Ideye and the likes were not called up for Nigeria’s AFCON qualifier because their performances aren’t easy to track, says Rohr.
”It’s very difficult to monitor the players in China,” Gernot Rohr told the national press in Uyo on Monday.
”You already know that one them is injured, our captain (Mikel).
The Super Eagles coach was also happy with Onyekuru, Kayode, Victor Osimhen and Alhassan Ibrahim’s play during the practice games vs Corsica and Togo, and felt there was no need to call up the China based players.
”Also, I was satisfied with the performances of the young players I have been working with for the past two weeks in France and that was why we decided to keep this group.”
