The U-23 team coach of Nigeria, Samson Siasia, is considering calling up FIFA U-17 World Cup highest goal scorer, Victor Osimhen, to join up with the team in camp in Morocco ahead of the CAF Africa U23 Cup of Nations.
A top official with the team disclosed that coach Siasia, who has been complaining about the lack of good goal scorers within his fold, might opt to invite Osimhen and 2 other players that just represented Nigeria at the just concluded U17 World Cup.
“Siasia is considering calling up Osimhen and two other players from the World Cup-winning Golden Eaglets. The players are expected to join the U23s in Morocco, where they will train before the U23 championship in Senegal,” the official said.
It was later understood that captain of the Golden Eaglets, Kelechi Nwakali, is one of the other 2 players Siasia would like to have in his team, while the other is a centre back as well. Siasia released a 26-man list of local-based players to that will travel to Morocco to camp ahead of the finals in Senegal while the foreign-based players will join on a later set date.
Some of the foreign-based players to be expected in camp later are Taiwo Awoniyi, Umar Aminu and Junior Ajayi..
