Nigeria’s captain at the 2015 U17 World Cup Kelechi Nwakali has said his teamates are not afraid of African Champions – Mali, ahead of their showdown on Sunday, in the 201 Fifa U17 World Cup final.


“ We respect Mali because they are the African champions but we are not afraid of them, ” Nwakali said in a chat with Fifa’s official Twitter page.

“We are the defending champions of the World Cup and that means we need to be respected too; we know that playing against Mali would not be an easy match but we are confident about our chances.

“The coach is the one that knows the secret of our success ; our job is to go out and play based on his instruction.”

Kelechi Nwakali, whose brother Chidiebere was with the victorious 2013 Nigeria U17 team on what is driving him at Chile 2015 said: “Winning. We came here to retain the trophy. We want to win the title and we haven’t come for anything less.”
