Super Eagles manager Gernot Rohr has hinted that former Newcastle United and Inter Milan striker Obafemi Martins could be a part of Nigeria’s squad to the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
The coach has stated that majority of the players that helped the Super Eagles qualify for a sixth World Cup won’t be left out from the 23-man roster.
”We will call the best men, but now everybody wants to come because we are in the World Cup,” Gernot Rohr told HipTV when asked if Martins will be called back to the Super Eagles
”The players who brought us to the World Cup, I don’t forget them.”
Obafemi Martins made two substitute appearances against Swaziland in the second round of the World Cup qualifiers in November 2015, on the road to the world cup qualification.
The Shanghai Greenland Shenhua striker has contributed to 11 goals (8 goals, 3 assists) in 15 appearances for his Chinese club.
