The board of the Bet9ja Nigeria National League has dropped a hint that clubs will be punished for not honouring league games as the season nears it conclusion or any attempt to withdraw from further participation.
The statement released by the board also stated that such premonition must be extinguished while enjoying all the clubs and her sponsors to respect and comply with the collective decision earlier made on the matter.
“NNL is the middle and the most important league in the supply and development chain in the country and we must be seen doing everything possible to create and maintain needed standard amidst challenges” said the Chief Operating Officer, Lawrence Katken
“We must take positive steps to ensure that the league and clubs stay afloat, NNL completely frown at any intention by any club or their sponsors to shun matches or withdraw from the league; it portends a bad cloud and this we must avoid”
“The board of the second tier league won’t hesitate in evoking mandatory five (5) year ban and N3,000,000 (Three Million Naira) fine on offending clubs.” He concluded.
