The Northern Conference of the 2016/2017 Bet9ja Nigeria National League (NNL) season was concluded on Wednesday.

Already promoted Kwara United lost 2-1 at home to FC Taraba while Yobe Desert Stars returned back to the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) for the first time since 2002 with a 2-0 win over visiting Adamawa United.

Kogi United also ended the season on a high by claiming a 2-0 win over FC Zamfara at the confluence Stadium on Wednesday.

In the Southern Conference, Heartland of Owerri couldn’t confirm their promotion back to the NPFL at the Dan Anyiam Stadium after a pulsating 0-0 draw with second placed Go-round FC.

The Soccer Scientists could have won the game when they were awarded a spot kick with 20mins left to play but Francis Momoh couldn’t convert from 12 yards.

Bayelsa United remained in contention for a promotion back to the NPFL after picking a vital away point at Akwa Starlets in Uyo. Crown FC and Delta Force will be in action on Thursday against UNICEM Rovers and Papilo FC respectively.
