Crystal Palace are ready to battle with London rivals West Ham United for the signature of highly-rated Nigerian forward Kelechi Iheanacho, who is no longer an option at Manchester City.

The striker has a price tag of £20m and West Ham has failed to pressure him to sign for them, which has led Palace to become involved. The 20-year-old striker is keen to stay at the Etihad and fight for a place in the team, but it looks like manager Pep Guardiola will sell him should a reasonable transfer offer be made for him.

Palace are huge admirers of the young striker and is ready to bring the player to Selhurst Park before they announce their new manager.

Iheanacho only started six games last season under Guardiola but came on as a substitute 20 times.

The Nigerian will be looking for regular first-team football should he move and Palace are ready to offer him the assurance. The forward may form a formidable partnership with Belgian striker Christian Benteke and with both at their disposal; the new manager may consider a formation change to accommodate them both.
