Nigerian forward Osaze Odemwingie made a goalscoring return for Madura United in their 2-0 home win against 10-man Persipura in the Indonesian top flight on Wednesday.
Odemwingie, who was back in first team action after serving a one-match ban for card accumulation, scored what proved to be the winning goal when he converted a 65th minute penalty to secure the victory for Madura.
Madura’s first goal was scored by Nigerian-born Indonesian international Greg Nwokolo in the 38th minute.
Prior to Odemwingie’s goal, Persipura were reduced to 10 men on 60 minutes after Boas Solossa received his second yellow card of the game.
Odemwingie has now scored six goals in nine league appearances for Madura.
The win takes Madura to second on 19 points in the league table, one point behind leaders PSM Makassar who will play away to Semen Padang on Thursday.
