Everton are interested in signing Kelechi Iheanacho from Manchester City when the summer transfer window opens for business in the coming weeks, according to reports in the UK.

The Sun claims that the Toffees are set to submit a shock £20 million summer bid for the Nigeria international as a possible replacement for Romelu Lukaku, who is all but certain to leave the Merseyside club, with Chelsea or Manchester United the possible destination.

Everton manager Ronald Koeman has been alerted to the fact that the 20-year-old has been declared surplus to requirement, and will make a move for the Nigerian in the event that Lukaku departs Goodison Park.

Iheanacho’s future has always been an issue since Pep Guardiola was announced the manager of the Citizens after Manuel Pellegrini, who promoted the Nigerian from the club’s academy, was sacked last summer.

Iheanacho has also been heavily linked with a move to Bundesliga clubs Borussia Dortmund and Hoffenheim.

The Taye Academy product has a contract with City until June 2021 after penning down a new long-term deal in August 2016.
