Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) outfit Sunshine Stars of Akure are set to unveil Augustine Eguavoen as the new head coach of the team today.
Former Super Eagles coach, Eguavoen is to take over after the dismissal of interim manager Kayode Olujohungbe who was relieved of his duties after the Akure Gunners’ 3-1 defeat to Lobi Stars last week in Makurdi.
Eguavoen, who most recetly coached Nigeria National League (NNL) team Gombe United, is expected to be given a short term contract till the end of the season with an option of an extension at the conclusion of the 2016/2017 NPFL campaign based on performance.
The 51-year-old will be assisted by former Super Eagles teammate, Ike Shorunmu.
“Eguavoen will be unveiled as the new coach of Sunshine Stars today (Tuesday),” media officer of the club, Wahab Bankole told Complete Sports.
Owena Waves currently occupy the 17th place in the league table with 31 points after 18 matches played..
