Super Eagles captain, John Obi Mikel and striker Brown Ideye were both in action for their Chinese Super League side Tianjin Teda in a goalless draw with Jiangsu Suning FC on Friday.
It is Tianjin Teda’s second league game with Mikel in the midfield and they have not succeeded in getting a win in both games – lost the first game 2-0 to Shandong Luneng and a draw with Suning.
Former West Brom and Olympiacos striker Ideye was not involved in the first game for the club because he arrived at the club just three days to the game. He, however, featured for 90 minutes in the second and received a booking in the game.
In the opening week of the Chinese Super League for 2017, Idion Jude Ighalo‘s Changchun Yatai lost 5-1 to Oscar and Hulk’s Shanghai SIPG. Hulk scored the opener from the penalty spot in the encounter played on Saturday, March 4.
Obafemi Martins was not in the opening day squad for Shanghai Shenhua as Carlos Tevez scored to inspire the side to a 4-0 win over 10-man Jiangsu Suning on Sunday, March 5..
