Former Super Eagles’ skipper and coach, Sunday Oliseh, started his new job as the manager of Dutch Eerste Divisie side, Fortuna Sittard with a 1-0 away win over a relegation doomed Achilles 29.
It took Gavin Vlitjer 58 minutes to get their goal which was simultaneously the only goal of the game and all Fortuna Sittard needed to do for maximum points from the game.
The win, which was the team’s first victory away from home this season, will help to ease their relegation worries as they look to move up the table.
Oliseh’s predecessor, Ben van Dael had led the team to a woeful outing this season which culminated in his subsequent replacement with the Nigerian during the mid-season break, as they clamour for survival.
The Dutch Erste Divisie side sit 17th with 18 points from 20 games and will face Telstar next as Oliseh hopes to build on an impressive start.
