A must-win encounter awaits Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries Football Club this Sunday afternoon at the Soccer Temple, Agege Stadium as they host Lobi Stars FC on Matchday 3 of the 2016/17 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
Placed 11th on the NPFL log, MFM FC kick-started the season on a high with a remarkable 3-0 victory over visiting Niger Tornadoes FC in their first home game but failed to sustain the momentum after Matchday 2 as they suffered a defeat in the hands of FC Ifeanyiubah last week Wednesday in Nnewi.
MFM FC’s head coach, Fidelis Ilechukwu and his wards have an uphill task to accomplish in Sunday’s game against coach Godwin Uwua’s men who could become a pain in the neck for any team. An outright triumph is imminent for the Lagos-based team to redeem their image and continue the fine home form.
With their first away defeat to Shooting Stars, the Makurdi-based team will be hoping to record at least their first away point of the season against a wounded Ilechukwu side, hence the Lagos-based NPFL fans are in for another exciting moment at the Soccer Temple.
MFM FC and Lobi claimed three points each in their last two meetings in the topflight with a 1-0 win in Makurdi and a 3-1 triumph in Lagos.
To get the desired result in this match, Ilechukwu has decided to stick with over 70 per cent of his Matchday 1 winning team.
The youthful gaffer has called on an 18-man squad capable enough to contest for the three points at stake. They are Ospino Egbe, Tchato Giscard, Okorom Stanley, Emiloju Julius, Opara Austine, Bashiru Monsuru, Shola Brosa, Alashe Ajibola, Agbane Candy, Abisoye Olawale, Akuneto Chijioke, Isah Akor, Nasamu Emmanuel, Onuwa Chukwuka, Oshobe Oladele, Adekunle Adegboye, Stephen Odey and Olatunbosun Sikiru.
Godwin Uwua parades one of the most experienced teams in the NPFL this term who are expected to give MFM FC a good fight in this game.
The likes of John Lawarence, Bunde Moses, Solomon Kwambe, Anthony Okpotu, David Tyavkase, Luther Iyorhe, Itodo Cletus, Okiemute Odah and Sunday Akleche are expected to be in action for Lobi.
The first point of call for the hosts will be to get an early goal and prevent the visitors from causing any form of havoc while at the same time entertain their fans with their tiki-taka brand of football.
