Super Eagles skipper, John Obi Mikel has been appointed as the new skipper of the Chinese Super League club, Tianjin TEDA, in less than two weeks after joining the Chinese club.


Mikel scored his first goal in a friendly against German club FC St. Pauli – his second appearance for the club, having made his debut last week against Borussia Monchengladbach.

He captained his new club Tianjin Teda to a 6-0 win over St. Pauli.

The 29 year old also captained Team Nigeria contingent and Nigeria’s U-23 team, Dream Team V1 to win bronze for Nigeria at the 2016 Olympics.

Mikel John Obi since moving to China, has become Nigeria’s highest paid player once again. He now earns £140,000 weekly at Tianjin TEDA in China.
