Nigeria-born striker Dickson Nwakaeme was the hero for his French club Angers SCO scoring the winner in a 2-1 away win over US Granvillaise in the French Cup on Sunday.

The 30-year-old forward struck in the 61st minute of the game as Angers advance to the next round of the Coupe de France.

Florian Jegu opened scoring for the home side in the ninth minute, but Jonathan Bamba equalised for Angers 15 minutes and Nwakaeme’s goal completed the comeback just after the hour mark.

Nwakaeme signed for the French side as a free agent after leaving Malaysian side Pahang last summer.

He is somewhat of a journeyman having played in Angola, Senegal, Finland, Denmark, Malaysia and France.

His younger brother, Anthony, also a striker plays for Israeli champions Hapoel Beer Sheva..
