Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) champions, Rangers International FC will face Federation Cup holders, FC Ifeanyi Ubah in the Charity Cup game of 2017 on Wednesday, January 11.
The curtain raiser to the season, which is also the first Oriental derby of the season, will take place in Abuja as always played annually.
Rangers claimed the NPFL trophy after 32 years garnering most points on the table after 38 games played, while FC Ifeanyi Ubah defeated Nasarawa United in the final of the Federation Cup to win their first major trophy and qualify for the CAF Confederation Cup.
Rangers, alongside Rivers United, who finished second on the log, will represent Nigeria in this year’s CAF Champions League. Wikki Tourists finished third and qualified for the Confederation Cup.
On the continent for both teams involved in the game, the Anambra Warriors are to face Al Masry of Egypt in the preliminaries of the Confed Cup in two legs, while Rangers will play Saoura of Algeria in their preliminary round of the Champions League.
