Mfon Udoh has been named Enyimba’s new captain after Chinedu Udoji’s transfer move to rivals Kano Pillars, ahead of the 2017 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season.

According to information shared on That Enyimba Fan blogthe goal-getter, who was highest goal scorer at last season’s CAF Champions League with nine goals – all scored during the preliminary and group stages.

Udoh did not get to be fielded by then coach Paul Aigbogun in as many league games as he would have loved to play in because of injury and competition from other strikers like Christian Obiozor and Ifeanyi Onuigbo, who has been released by the club, but still managed to hit the mark in continental competition.

Enyimba finished last term in a disappointing 10th position after garnering 50 points, and will kick off next season’s campaign against Sunshine Stars on January 15, 2017..
