Defender Champions of the FIFA Under-17 World Cup, Golden Eaglets of Nigeria, cruised past Brazil in a thrilling match which saw the 3 goals scored in 5 minutes in the first half.

Nigeria are through to the semi finals of the mundial in a quest to win the title a record 5 times and leading scorer Victor Osimhen was once more on the scoring sheet increasing his goal tally to 8 with the opener in the 29th minute after John Lazarus crossed in from the right flank finding Osimhen who headed in the ball off a deflection by Eder Militao.

The Eaglets doubled the lead just a minute later with Osimhen showing pure class once more, but this time providing a wonderful assist with an over the shoulder pass to Kingsley Michael who finished neatly with the bouncing ball to the top left corner of the post.

Udochukwu Anumudu provided the nail in the coffin even before the interval. He found the back of the net in the 34th minute deceiving the Brazilian goalie, Juliano, once more.

The Eaglets were 3 goals up into the break and that is how the match would finish even with both sides having series of chances that wouldn’t be converted.

Nigeria will play the first semi-final match of the competition on Thursday against the winner of Monday’s quarter final game between Ecuador and Mexico.

In the 2nd quarter final match played on the day, African counterparts, Mali beat Croatia by a loan goal to advance to the semis, and they will face the winner of the quarter final match between Belgium and Costa Rica..
