The coach of the Nigeria Under 17 team Emmanuel Amuneke has said that his team were not their best against Croatia U17 when both sides clashed on Friday for their last group A match of the ongoing FIFA U17 World Cup in Chile.
The Golden Eaglets suffered their first loss of the competition 2-1 in the hands of the Croats after winning their first two matches which qualified Nigeria to the latter stage top of the group A with 6 points.
Amuneke confessed that his boys were not at their best on the night and believes there is still room for improvement.
“My players wanted to win, but we were not the best tonight. The Croats have asked us many problems. They prevented us from playing our game and deserved to win,” he said.
“My players are very talented, but still have room for improvement collectively.”
Nigeria will now play against any of the third best losers of the Group C, D and E in the Round of 16..
