The Under 20 team of Nigeria, Falconets, moved an inch closer to qualifying for the finals of the 2016 FIFA Under 20 Women’s World Cup in Papua New Guinea after beating the Basetsana of South Africa 2-1 in Abuja on Saturday.
Chiwendu Iheazuo got the opener in the 30th minute after converting Chinaza Uchendu’s pull out.
The lead was doubled on the stroke of half time by Uchenna Kanu and the Falconets kept cruising from there onward.
It was a sour bite to end a good meal as Nigeria conceded a penalty on the last minute of the game and Gabriela Salgado converted from the spot to give the visitors an away goal into the return leg.
The second leg of the encounter will be played on November 7 in Johannesburg..
