Nigeria international and Genk player Wilfreld Ndidi has disclosed that he was approached by coach of the Under 23 team of Nigeria Samson Siasia to be part of the squad for next month’s Rio 2016 Olympic qualifiers in Senegal.
“Siasia actually spoke to me when he came to watch the Super Eagles friendlies in Belgium. He said he wants me to be part of his squad for the Olympic qualifiers,” Ndidi told African Football.
“I am always honoured to play for my country but the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) have to first get my release from my club.”
Ndidi, 18, might not be released by his Belgian club because the Africa U23 Nations Cup is not on the FIFA international calendar, but Siasia still have all hopes high that the young defender will be available for the tournament.
Ndidi has represented Nigeria at all junior levels before now..
