Super Eagles coach Sunday Oliseh has disclosed that he had not considered handing a recall to Obafemi Martins following reports that the Seattle Sounders striker could be in line to replace the retired Emmanuel Emenike.
Oliseh, who told Football Live that he has a pool of players he has decided to work with but 30-year old striker has not been considered an invite the to national team.
“We have so many strikers to look at, we can’t focus on just a player. we have a pool of players composed of five or six and prior to yesterday we have not really looked outside for new strikers because Emenike was part of the plan.
”Perhaps now we’ll turn the searchlight in the direction of a striker but we can’t start that now too, until the CHAN qualifier on Sunday; so before Monday I’ll sit down with my assistants and we’ll decide,” Oliseh stressed.
Obagoal as he is fondly called, last played for Nigeria in 2013 in a 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifier against the Harambe Stars of Kenya.
