Bolton Wanderers coach Neil Lennon hopes Nigeria International striker – Shola Ameobi will convince him to offer him a longer-term deal at Wanderers.
Ameobi scored on his debut to help Bolton get a 1-1 draw against Leeds United in the English Championship, yesterday.
Lennon who only got the veteran striker on Friday, with the Nigeria international agreeing a contract with the club until January.

Lennon said: “I’d like to offer him a long term contract and if that’s the case it means he is doing pretty well for us,” he said after the game. “I hope he will play a consistent run of games and make us better.
“Ameobi coming on gave us a great lift. He had a fantastic game, scored a great goal and more than justified coming here.
“He will add something to the dressing room which we perhaps haven’t had since Eidur Gudjohnsen left.”
“Shola said before the game he felt fine to start but he hasn’t played that much football recently.
“He maybe the other side of 30 but compared to the players we brought in before like Heskey and Gudjohnsen, he is a novice.”
