Newly invited Super Eagles striker Alex Iwobi has stated that he was excited in making his debut for Nigeria in the 2-0 defeat to DR Congo in last Thursday friendly match.

Speaking in an interview with BBC Sports, the 19-year old Arsenal youngster says he is braced up and ready to work hard to win more caps and trophies with the National team.

“My target is to get as many call-ups as I can, get as many games as I can and win many trophies with Nigeria.”

“It was an honour to represent my country, I was just buzzing to get on for the last half hour and I was excited,” Iwobi enthused

“I got a few touches and I was excited, even though we lost it felt like I won but I enjoyed the moment.”

Iwobi is nephew to former Eagles captain Austin Okocha. He recently signed a long-term contract with Arsenal and hopes to achieve success with Nigeria in the future.
