Sponsor of Nigeria Football Federation national teams, Globacom, have congratulated the U20 Women team Falconets on their victory against DR Congo in the return leg second round of qualifiers for next year’s FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup in Papua New Guinea.

The Falconets defeated their counterparts 2-0 courtesy of a Chinwendu Ihezuo’s brace at the Abuja National Stadium over the weekend, and qualified on a 4-1 aggregate result.

The team will next take on the Basetana of South Africa who defeated Zambia 3-2 in the final round of the Africa qualifiers.

“We are delighted with the convincing win by the Falconets, especially, after we earlier expressed our belief in the team to fly over their opponents,” Globacom said in a statement released in Lagos yesterday.

“The victory, coming at a time that our national women football needed fresh boost after recent run of bad results, made it more glorious. The girls have demonstrated their desire and capability to be the future Super Falcons.”

Globacom also called on the coaching crew led by Peter Dedevbo not to rest on their oars until the ticket to Papua New Guinea world cup finals is firmly secured.

Nigeria will entertain South Africa in the first leg on October 24 at the Abuja National Stadium, with the return leg billed for November 7 in Johannesburg.
