Seattle Sounders striker Obafemi Akinwunmi Martins won his first call-up since March 2013, when he last played for the Super Eagles, in the squad to face Swaziland in a World Cup qualifier.

Martins said that he was shocked to have been added by coach Sunday Oliseh for the 2 games against Swaziland on November 13 and 17.

“It was a bit of a shock, but a nice shock,” the 31-year-old said while speaking with BBC Sport.

“I’m very happy, because I have always worked hard, supported and respected all the players picked by the coaches.”

Having been a very good form picking up from where he ended last season for the Sounders in the MLS, Martins is determined replicate his club form for country.

“I thank coach Oliseh for this great opportunity. I’m just looking forward to going out there and playing for Nigeria again,” he said.

Obagoal has scored 15 goals for his USA side this season..
