Super Eagles midfielder Shehu Abdullahi is excited after featuring for the senior national team in the international friendly matches with DR Congo and Cameroon in Belgium.

Nigeria rallied back to defeat rivals Cameroon 3-0 on Sunday after losing 2-0 to DR Congo last Thursday and Abdullahi saw playing time in both matches.

Speaking from his base in Portugal, the Uniao da Madeira midfielder said it was a dream come true for him. And that his appearances for the Eagles will shore up his club profile, as national team players are usually rated high in their clubs.

“I am happy that I was given the chance to play in the two international matches. Although we lost one we were able to come back and restore national pride against Cameroon.

“For me as an individual, it was a major breakthrough for me. After playing for the National U20 team and the Home-based Eagles, I wished to play for the senior team. God in his infinite mercy has granted my heart desire.

“I am back to my base in Portugal and surely my rating in my club is going to rise. When you are a national team player, you enjoy more attention,” he said.
