Kelechi Iheanacho was full of joy and could not wipe the smile from his face while addressing Manchester City’s website after scoring his first goal for the first team of the English side on Saturday against Crystal Palace in the Selhurst Park.

The Nigerian teenager was introduced in the 89th minute and scored with his first touch of the ball, and the Flying Eagles forward was grateful to manager Manuel Pellegrini for giving him the opportunity.

“It means so much to me. I’m happy and very grateful and I thank the manager for introducing me.

“The fans went crazy when I scored. We are all happy,” Iheanacho told mcfc.co.uk

 

The 18-year-old also talked about City’s performances so far this season and their chances of making it this season. He also talked about his aspirations with the team.

“Palace is a great team – they have done well to be second in the Premier League table,” the Nigerian declared.

“I will try to do my best in in training and in games if I’m introduced. I’m hoping to do great for the team.

“It’s not easy. We have great players here but I have to keep working hard.

“We are much stronger this season with quality players. We are going to go all the way..”
