Super Eagles and Lille OSC of France goalkeeper, Vincent Enyeama, received the marching order in his teams 1-1 draw at Rennes in a Ligue 1 clash on Friday night.
The national team skipper brought down Rennes’ Giovanni Sio in the 18-yard box in the 72nd minute in an attempt to score but the centre referee pointed to the spot. Mike Maigan came on to stand between the sticks in place of the sent off Enyeama and saved the penalty.
Sofiane Boufal had put Lille in front in the 49th minute but Paul-Georges Ntep, who had earlier missed the spot kick scored the equaliser for Rennes.
It is the first time that Enyeama will be sent off in the French Ligue 1 and he will miss his team’s away game at Reims next week Friday..
