Nasarawa United coach, Kabiru Dogo and Lobi Stars striker Anthony Okpotu have both received the League Bloggers Award for Glo Nigeria Professional Football League Manager and Player of the month of August.

Dogo was the coach responsible for the halt to Kano Pillars’ 12 years home unbeaten streak in the Game Week 23 of the NPFL when he led his team, Nasarawa United to beat the league defending champions 2-1.

The stand-in coach after Mohammed Babaganaru quit the Lafia side for Kano Pillars in July saw of other nominees in the category for Manager of the Month. Other coaches nominated are  Kadiri Ikhana (Enyimba), Gbenga Ogunbote (Shooting Stars SC) and Stanley Eguma (Dolphins).

Okpotu, on the other hand, beat Prince Aggreh (Sunshine Stars), Aniekpeno Udoh (Akwa United) and Stephen Adah (FC Taraba) to win the Player of the Month award.

The Lobi Stars striker netted 6 times in August, same number of goals as Aggreh but Okpotu had 2 of his goals on the road thereby being more qualified for the accolade .

 

According to the LBA, Dogo and Okpotu will be presented their awards in a later in September..
