Head coach of the Nigeria Under 23 team, Samson Siasia has revealed that his team is not ready to compete at a bigger level and the loss to Burkina Faso is the worst game ever played by the team.
Burkina Faso beat the Dream Team VI 3-1 in the semis of the male football event of the ongoing All-Africa Games on Tuesday. Nigeria will now face hosts Congo in a battle for the Bronze medal while the Burkinabes play Senegal in the final.
“We are not ready, we have a long way to go if we want to compete.
“We made so many mistakes, we did not play well in the defence and we did not create chances upfront. Our defence was sleeping. It was the worse game this team have played,” Siasia lamented.
“We would have to start looking at other players the way things are now going.”
However, the Dream Team VI will represent Nigeria at the Africa U23 Cup of Nations and they will play in a group consisting of Algeria, Egypt and Mali..
